Historical streets, beautiful beaches, amazing restaurants and unique shops to explore are just a few things that Monterey has to offer. Not to mention, the endless photo opportunities for you and your family. Monterey is pet friendly, so you can bring your fur babies too.

My family and I visit at least twice a year. We always have the best time finding new places to explore. It is definitely worth checking out, and don't forget to bring your camera for those unforgettable moments.

1) Fisherman's Shoreline Park

You can view the Wharf from this spot and take some great photos while sitting on the park benches. This is an iconic spot to capture the colorful buildings on the wharf.

2) Harbor House Gifts

Fisherman's Wharf has a shop for everyone. Harbor House has unique gifts for all occasions. This cute pink, family owned gift shop (since 1950) is not only photo backdrop worthy, but they have all the souvenirs for that special someone. It is located right as you enter the Wharf, so you can always grab something on the way out as you head back to the car or hotel if you forget.

3) Domenico's on the Wharf

Worked up an appetite from all the walking on the Wharf? Domenico's has all the good stuff, from pasta and seafood, clam chowder bowls, hamburgers, salads, iced cold adult beverages, and more. They have an amazing view of the harbor and great seafood. My husband had the linguine & clams (shown below).

4). Portola Hotel & Spa at Monterey Bay

A weekend in Monterey is a must. There is just so much to see and do. Portola Hotel & Spa is a water-front hotel overlooking Monterey Bay, and it is steps away from the Wharf. They have the best rates guaranteed and no resort fee. You can relax and enjoy Spa on the Plaza as you rejuvenate your mind for your next adventure in Monterey.

5) Monterey Bay Aquarium

After a day of rest, take the kiddos to Monterey Bay Aquarium. They will love it. The colors are so vibrant and we had so much fun taking photos. It is very educational and the little ones will learn all about sea life. It has definitely inspired my 10 year old daughter to want to become a marine biologist when she grows up. My 13 year old son was so engaged and asked a ton of questions. I highly recommend to add to your "must do" list while in Monterey. Tickets can be purchased online.

6) Cannery Row

Cannery Row is a popular vacation destination with so much to do and try. You can find parking and walk to view all the beautiful sites. After a fun filled day at the aquarium, we walked over to Fish Hopper for a bite to eat. We had a waterfront view as we indulged ourselves. They are even kid friendly and have chicken strips. Chicken strips are a kids favorite and that’s all my kids eat. Happy to say, they loved them, which was a win win. Hubby and I had the clam chowder bowl (my fave) and for appetizers, we had the coconut prawns (amazing).

7) Old Town Monterey

You can finish the evening by exploring Old Town Monterey and take the kids to Candy Land for a sweet treat. There is an area to let the kids run around to burn off all the sugar. Many photo opportunities are all around for those keep sake memories as well. After a long, fun-filled day I am sure you will all be tired and want to rest your heads at the nearby Portola Hotel & Spa.

Monterey should definitely be on the bucket list if not already. It is a place worth taken a vacation to. #seemonterey
